Brazil wrapped up their home campaign in 2026 World Cup qualifying with a comfortable 3–0 win over Chile at the Maracanã, extending Carlo Ancelotti’s unbeaten start and underlining their grip on second place behind Argentina. Teenage forward Estevão opened the scoring before second-half strikes from Lucas Paquetá and Bruno Guimarães sealed the result.
The hosts controlled long spells without finding an early breakthrough, denied by Lawrence Vigouroux and an offside flag against Casemiro. The deadlock was broken shortly before the interval when Raphinha’s shot was parried and Estevão acrobatically converted from close range, his first goal for the Seleção.
Ancelotti’s changes added a final flourish. Substitute Luiz Henrique immediately created the second with a driving run and clipped cross for Paquetá to head in, then rattled the bar moments later for Guimarães to turn home the rebound for 3–0. Brazil’s clean sheet made it three games without conceding under their new coach.
Already qualified, Brazil can finish as the “best of the rest” with a positive result away to Bolivia on the final matchday, while the defeat leaves bottom-placed Chile facing Uruguay as they try to avoid a last-place finish. The victory was also Brazil’s sixth straight against La Roja in all competitions.
