Qormi Daikin and GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks to contest Challenge Cup Final

Qormi Daikin and GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks will contest the final of the Challenge Cup after winning their last matches this weekend. Qormi won 4-2 in the direct match  against Trust Payments Floriana Young Stars. The Yellow/Blacks who were coming from a loss against Żurrieq, wanted at all costs to get the second place in order to ensure themselves from the final. They scored after a few seconds and despite Floriana’s timely reaction, their determination led them to win the match. Daniel Ellul put Qormi ahead with Karl Chircop equalizing  from a penalty stroke. In the second quarter, youngster Neil Spiteri Montebello scored again for Qormi with Kyle Micallef adding another. Karl Chircop kept Floriana in the game with another goal from a penalty stroke so that Shawn Dimech sealed the victory for Qriema. Umpires: Alessandro Amore and David Agius. GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks secured first place in the table after dominating the match against White Hart and winning 8-2. The result for Blues was never in doubt with Alessandro Amore being their best player after scoring three goals. Keith Scicluna scored twice while Jayden Cutajar, Lukas Plaehn and Rick Micallef who also found the back of the net. White Hart scored their two goals through David Agius and Carl Tua. Umpires: Glen Bonello and Edward Hughes. From the under-18 league, GREE Żurrieq Wolves Hotsticks beat Qormi Daikin 7-4 in a very spectacular game. Gary Bonnici was an inspiration for the Wolves after scoring four goals with Jayden Cutajar who netted a brace. Niki Runza completed the score for Wolves. Wyatt Magri scored two goals with Giorgio Muscat and Neil Spiteri Montebello adding two more for Qormi. Umpires were Edward Hughes and Karl Chircop. From the under 16 league, Marsaskala Heat achieved a great victory of 13-0 against Floriana Young Stars. Alessandro Piscopo scored four goals, Cayleb Caruana was the author of a hat-trick with Kane Zammit, Jerome Carabott and Xylon Cassar scoring twice each. Umpires: Dario Cacopardo and Bernice Calleja.
