Liverpool Announces Record Revenue of £594m for 2021-22 Season

Reds’ Profit Before Tax Comes in at Just £7.5m Despite Quadruple Quest

Liverpool Football Club has announced record revenue of £594m for the 2021-22 season, up £107m from the previous year. The increase is attributed to fans returning to Anfield following the COVID-19 pandemic and Liverpool’s strong performance, which saw the team win the EFL Cup and reach the finals of the FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League.

Despite the record revenue, the club’s profit before tax was just £7.5m. The rise in revenue was offset by an increase of nearly 17% in the club’s wage bill, contributing to administrative costs rising by £69m to £545m. The signings of Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Fabio Carvalho, Ben Doak, and Bobby Clark also impacted the club’s books.

However, Liverpool’s commercial revenue rose by £29m to £247m thanks to eight new partnerships being struck, as well as the re-opening of stadium tours, retail shops, and the museum center. Matchday revenue also saw a significant increase of £83m to £86m due to the return of fans to Anfield.

Managing Director Andy Hughes emphasized the club’s commitment to sustainable growth, saying, “We maintain our position of growing this club with significant investment with new and existing players signing contracts and the construction of the new Anfield Road Stand which we look forward to coming on stream in the summer.”

While Liverpool’s current season has not been as successful as the previous one, with the team already out of the EFL Cup and FA Cup, and facing a difficult challenge to progress in the Champions League, the club remains committed to finishing the season strong on and off the pitch.
