Oliver Burke struck a superb hat-trick to fire Union Berlin to a dramatic 4-3 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga.
Scotland international Ilyas Ansah opened the scoring for the visitors before Burke doubled the lead in the 32nd minute. Nathaniel Brown pulled one back for Frankfurt right on half-time, but Burke struck twice in four minutes early in the second half to put Union 4-1 ahead.
Late goals from Can Uzun and Jonathan Burkardt set up a tense finale, yet Union held firm to claim all three points.
The 28-year-old Burke, capped 13 times for Scotland but without an appearance since 2020, joined Union in the summer after leaving Werder Bremen. His treble – a composed finish on the counter, a back-post header and a delicate chip – not only secured his first goals for the club but also made him the first Scottish player ever to record a Bundesliga hat-trick.
Union climb to 10th in the table on six points from four matches, level with sixth-placed Frankfurt.
