FC Bayern extended their perfect start to the Bundesliga season to seven wins from seven, easing past Hoffenheim 4-1 on Saturday.
Harry Kane struck just before half-time and added two penalties after the break to complete his hat-trick, while Serge Gnabry sealed the scoreline in stoppage time. Vladimir Coufal netted a late consolation for the hosts.
Thomas Tuchel’s side lined up with Manuel Neuer in goal, protected by a back four of Sacha Boey, Minjae Kim, Jonathan Tah and Konrad Laimer. Leon Goretzka and Aleksandar Pavlović anchored midfield behind Lennart Karl, Nicolas Jackson and Luis Díaz, with Kane spearheading the attack. After the hour mark, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Olise, Gnabry and Dayot Upamecano replaced Goretzka, Karl, Jackson and Kim, while Tom Bischof came on for Boey late on.
Tight first half
The opening period was finely balanced. Fisnik Asllani intercepted a loose pass in the Bayern box but struck the post, before Oliver Baumann denied Kane and Bernardo’s header drifted wide. Karl also forced a save.
At the other end, Neuer stopped Alexander Prass’s effort, and Jackson saw his shot saved. Bayern eventually made the breakthrough on 42 minutes when Karl’s corner found Kane unmarked, the striker finishing coolly. Kim’s vital defensive intervention shortly before the break ensured the champions led 1-0 at half-time.
Second-half dominance
Bayern doubled their advantage early in the second half, Kane slotting home a penalty after a Hoffenheim handball. Díaz twice went close, before Kane made it 3-0 from the spot when Olise was fouled in the box—securing his ninth Bundesliga hat-trick.
Coufal pulled one back for Hoffenheim with a deflected free-kick, but Bayern had the final say. After Baumann denied Laimer and Díaz, Gnabry struck from a tight angle in stoppage time to complete the rout.
The result leaves Bayern top of the table with 12 points and a +15 goal difference from just four games—the best start in Bundesliga history. Next up, the champions host Werder Bremen on Friday.
