Harry Kane has described Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga title win as a “sweet” moment, bringing an end to the England striker’s long wait for a major club honour.
The 31-year-old England captain, who joined Bayern in 2023 after a prolific but trophyless spell with Tottenham Hotspur, helped secure the German club’s league title in just his second season. Kane has enjoyed a sensational start to life in Germany, becoming the fastest player to score 60 goals in 60 Bundesliga matches.
Speaking in a video message released on Monday, Kane reflected on the celebrations that followed Bayern’s title-clinching victory over the weekend.
“What a night last night, what a celebration with the players, with the staff,” said Kane. “I’m sure everyone’s feeling it a little bit this morning, but we’re here. I feel amazing. It’s been a long time coming – obviously a lot of hard work, a lot of dedication – and it just feels sweet to win the title, the first one of my career.”
Kane, who sits second on the Premier League’s all-time goalscoring chart and holds the record for most goals scored for England, expressed his gratitude to fans and looked ahead to the club’s final home match of the season.
“I appreciate all the support, as always, it never goes unnoticed. I can’t wait to be at the Allianz Arena on Saturday and celebrate in front of the fans,” he added. “And then, as always, we look forward to the next one – and we go again and try and get number two.”
Kane is on course to make more history as he edges closer to becoming the first player in Bundesliga history to finish as top scorer in both of his first two seasons.
The title marks a significant milestone in Kane’s career, after years of near misses at Tottenham, where he became the club’s all-time leading scorer but never managed to lift silverware.
