Shaun Dimech joins Birkirkara

In recent weeks, although Dimech signed with FK Borac Banja Luka, minor details still needed to be finalised for the transfer to be officially complete, allowing him to play for his new club.

As a result, Dimech was not included in the squad by FK Borac Banja Luka’s coach for their first two UEFA Champions League matches.

This complication meant that the player was not training with the rest of the team and found it challenging to integrate into the squad. Consequently, it appears there is an agreement between both parties to terminate the contract. Dimech’s desire is to play regularly to reclaim his position in the Maltese national team, but due to the circumstances at FK Borac Banja Luka, he would have faced significant obstacles in achieving regular playtime.

Therefore, it seems likely that the player may return to Malta, with the option of playing in the top Maltese division to gain more visibility from coach Michele Marcolini and potentially other foreign clubs. The former Valletta Football Club player’s ambition remains to pursue opportunities abroad.
