Djokovic withdrew from the performance in Shanghai

The best tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic announced that he will not participate in the Masters in Shanghai this year.

“Over the years, I’ve had support in China like I’ve rarely had anywhere else. Shanghai has always been one of my favorite tournaments of the season. I will miss my fans in China. I hope to come to China again in the future and play in front of you.”

The most populous country in Asia is considered the most extensive base of Novak’s fans worldwide, and the Serbian tennis player achieved great success in his career in Shanghai, where he lifted the trophy on four occasions, the last time in 2018.

Daniil Medvedev won the last title in Shanghai in 2019, after which the tournament was not held due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Masters in Shanghai will be played from October 4 to 15, and apart from Djokovic, who announced his absence, stronger competition is expected than ever because (for now) all the best-ranked tennis players in the world are registered for the tournament.
