"Djokovic suffers because politicians don't like it when a person is famous and does something against them"

Jean-Rene Lisnard, Daniil Medvedev’s former coach, defended Novak Djokovic.

He talked about everything the Serbian tennis player went through this season.

“He is Super. If he doesn’t play in this tournament, what will happen to him? The tournament will suffer. He only fought for his rights and I think he is right,” Lisnard pointed out and continued:

“I didn’t like him before, but the more this situation went on, the more sympathy I had for him. He is the only one in the world of tennis who can call a spade a spade and do what he wants.”

It is easier for a rookie to raise his voice than for young players.

“It’s easier for Djokovic than for young tennis players, because he won everything possible. If he was 20 years old, if he was just starting out, the situation would be different. He can afford what no one else can.”

Jean criticized the US Open as well as the Australian Open.

“The whole situation surrounding Covid is pure hypocrisy. Djokovic could not play at the US Open, even though there have been no restrictions in the US for a long time. But vaccination is mandatory for foreigners. Why does he suffer? Because politicians don’t like it when a person is famous and does something against them,” concluded Jean-René.
