Alcaraz was shocked after Federer's decision, so he congratulated Felix on his victory

Carlos Alcaraz, the current number one, has been shocked since he found out that Roger Federer will retire.

After winning the US Open, the young Spaniard was defeated in the first match of the Davis Cup by Felix Auger Aliassime after three sets.

” I would like to play against him, but it will not be possible. He left a great legacy to tennis, what can we say about him? Everyone knows that he has magic and talent, he was spectacular, and everyone loves and appreciates him. When I heard the news, I couldn’t believe it. I was very shocked by the thought that I would never see him again on the Tour. But I’m only happy that I grew up watching him,” said Alcaraz.

He touched Feliks and congratulated him on a great match.

“Physically, I felt good, but not 100 percent. I was on the edge the whole time, I held out as long as I could, but against a beast like Felix it’s hard. In terms of tennis quality, physical and mental strength, he is one of the best in the world. I fought, but I didn’t manage to show 100 percent. This is the Davis Cup, you have to do your best for your country and for all the people who cheer us on,” Alcaraz added.
