American skier Bryce Bennett won in Val Gardena, in the third downhill of the Alpine Ski World Cup season, thus creating a sensation.

He reached his first triumph in the World Cup in two minutes, two seconds and 42 hundredths of a second.

Austrian Otmar Striedinger won second place with a gap of 14 hundredths of a second behind Bennett, while third-placed Niels Hintermann had a time of 32 hundredths of a second behind the winner.

Dominik Paris finished in fourth place, Beat Feuz was fifth.

With 195 points, Matthias Mayer leads the downhill standings.
