Mario Genovese won the Veterans Table Tennis Competition held at the University Sports Pavilion and organized by the Malta Table Tennis Association .
Genovese had a consistent performance in the elimination phase after finishing in second place in his group behind David Pace and in front of Malcolm Pace Debono.
In the quarter-finals, Genovese beat Mark Azzopardi 3-0 so that in the semi-finals he had to face Claudio Tufigno to see him off 3-1.
In the final he faced David Pace and won 3-2 in a very beautiful and uncertain game until the end. Genovese was trailing 2-0 but managed to turn the tables and win this encounter.
