A prestigious win for Malta when Emma Montebello and Betha Anne Mayo won the Girls’ Doubles event at the U16 Tennis Europe Tournament with the score 6-2, 2-6, 11-9 against Anna Borovytska (Ukraine) and Kuai Jiananxi (China).
Sponsored by Planet Travel Services, and held at the Marsa Sports Club, this tournament falls under the aegis of the Malta Tennis Federation and is made possible with the financial assistance of SportMalta.
In another impressive display which augurs well for local tennis, Maltese player Evan Galea made it to the finals of both the Boys’ Singles and the Boys’ Doubles. The Boys singles was won by Luca Cosimi from Italy, who beat Galea with the score of 6 – 4, 6 -3
In the Boys Doubles Italian players Alessandro Bazzini/Luca Cosimi had a thrilling match against Evan Galea (Malta) and Janis Liberts (Latvia) which the former won with the score of 2-6, 6-2, 10-2.
The Girls’ Singles was won by Ukrainian player Sofiia Bielinska who beat Roumanian Sandra Ciobica 6 -2, 6 – 4
