The Maltese female national team registered the first win in in the European Youth Table Tennis Championships which are being held in Malmo when they beat Armenia 3-2. After Anthea Cutajar won the first set against Marian Hambardzumyan, the Armenians reacted and went 2-1 when Asya Poghosyan and Elada Gevorgjan beat Rachel Mifsud and Alice Mariani respectively.

Despite everything, the Maltese women held firm and Anthea Cutajar won her second personal set against Asya Poghosyan to make it 2-2.
In the deciding set, Rachel Mifsud completely dominated Mariam Hambarzumyan so much that she won 3-0 and eventually gave the victory to her team.

Meanwhile on the second day of games of this tournament, the Maltese cadets had a good performance as they were also unlucky to lose 3-2 against Latvia while the men’s junior team was defeated 3-0 against Bosnia.
