Malta will once again be at the heart of European table tennis as MITTC Malta Club hosts the Europe Trophy Qualification Stage for the third consecutive year. The event will be held between 16 and 18 January at Santa Clara College Secondary, with entrance free of charge.

The Europe Trophy is among the highest-level club competitions organised by the European Table Tennis Union, regularly featuring some of the strongest clubs and players on the continent. MITTC’s continued appointment as hosts further strengthens Malta’s reputation as a trusted and high-quality destination for elite international sporting events.
This year’s competition marks a significant milestone for local table tennis, with MITTC fielding 11 Maltese-born players in their squad. A standout inclusion is Gianni Garcia, aged just 11, who becomes the youngest player ever selected for the team, underscoring the club’s long-term commitment to youth development.

The team will be captained by Daniel Bajada, Malta’s GSSE gold medallist, whose leadership and experience will be central to MITTC’s ambitions. He is joined by Ammirrezza Abbasi, a seasoned Maltese international whose extensive experience at the top level adds further strength to the squad.
The competition gets underway on Friday, 16 January, with MITTC Butterfly Malta taking to the tables at 7.00pm. Strong home support is expected as the Maltese champions look to capitalise on home advantage and push for qualification to the grand finals.

With elite international opposition, a historic Maltese representation and free public access, the Europe Trophy Qualification Stage is set to be one of the standout sporting events on the local calendar.
