In alignment with Malta’s National Education Strategy, which emphasises holistic development and lifelong wellness, the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research, and Innovation is advancing its commitment to prioritise sport within schools. Starting this scholastic year, the Ministry will launch the Malta School Games in collaboration with SportMalta, the Malta Olympic Committee (MOC), and the Malta Schools Sports Federation (MSSF). A key initiative of the strategy, this effort includes a comprehensive reorganisation of national tournaments and sports challenges aimed at revitalising intra-school competition. Through this program, students will have greater opportunities to engage in structured, competitive sports, fostering teamwork, discipline, and a stronger school spirit while promoting physical and mental well-being.
This event, open to all State and Non-State Schools in Malta and Gozo, will take place over the entire scholastic year as has been the case over the past years with interschool sports competitions.
Yet, as from this scholastic year, the event will culminate with a national event held between Monday, May 19th, and Friday, May 23rd. This event will feature an Opening and Closing Ceremony as well as all final phase competitions of the events that will be included.
