Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique will undergo surgery after fracturing his collarbone in a cycling accident, the club confirmed on Friday.
The incident happened while the Spaniard was out riding his bike. Emergency services attended the scene and provided treatment before it was confirmed that he had suffered a broken collarbone. PSG shared the news on social media, stating that their head coach will go into surgery to repair the injury.
Luis Enrique, who led PSG to their first-ever UEFA Champions League title last season, is now expected to begin recovery ahead of a busy period for the club.
PSG’s next match after the international break is a Ligue 1 home game against Lens on 14 September. Just three days later, they begin their Champions League title defence with a group-stage clash against Italian side Atalanta at the Parc des Princes.
The club has not yet confirmed how long Enrique will be sidelined or whether he will miss any matches during his recovery.
