Futsal Malta hosted its annual event during which the official draws for the Futsal Trophy competitions were conducted, bringing together participating clubs, sponsors and invited guests who all contribute to the continued growth of futsal in Malta.
The President of the Futsal Malta Association, Mark Borg, opened the event by thanking all sponsors supporting the sport, the Malta Football Association for its continued backing, the clubs, the Association’s committee, and everyone involved in ensuring the ongoing development of futsal.
During his address, Borg announced that the Women’s Futsal Trophy will be sponsored by Enemed, while the Men’s Futsal Trophy will be sponsored by Laferla Insurance, with both sponsors reaffirming their commitment towards Maltese futsal.
Enemed Women’s Futsal Trophy
The Women’s Trophy draw resulted in a knockout bracket that promises competitive encounters.
Zero Sei were drawn against Parr Mela Rockets, with the winner set to face Luxol St Andrews, who were awarded a bye to the next round. On the opposite side of the bracket, Swieqi United will face Sliema, while St George’s also progressed automatically with a bye and will await the winner of the respective fixture.
The competition continues to highlight the steady growth and rising standard of women’s futsal in Malta.
Laferla Men’s Futsal Trophy
In the men’s competition sponsored by Laferla Insurance, the draw produced a competitive bracket featuring several established teams within the Maltese futsal scene.
One half of the bracket includes University of Malta Futsal, Marsaskala Futsal Legends, Luxol St Andrews Futsal and GŻR Birżebbuġa St Peter’s Futsal, all competing for a place in the next knockout round.
In the opposite half, Żejtun Corinthians Futsal were drawn against MFPA Futsal Selection U17, while Sliema Futsal Fort Fitness will face the winner of the match between Santa Venera Lightnings Futsal and MFPA Futsal Selection U19.
The Laferla Futsal Trophy remains one of the most prestigious competitions on the Futsal Malta calendar, with all teams aiming to progress to the latter stages and challenge for honours.
