Former Formula 1 driver Andrea de Adamich dies aged 84

The motorsport world is mourning the loss of Andrea de Adamich, former Formula 1 driver and well-known Mediaset commentator, who has died at the age of 84.

De Adamich, from Friuli, began his racing career in 1962 and enjoyed a successful career with Alfa Romeo, winning two European Touring Car Championships in 1966 and 1967 driving the Giulia GTA. He later raced in Formula 1 for teams such as Ferrari, McLaren, March, Surtees, and Brabham, and also competed in the World Sportscar Championship, claiming two wins with Alfa Romeo.

After retiring in 1974, de Adamich became a familiar face on Mediaset, commentating on motorsport from 1978 to 2009 alongside Guido Schittone. In 1991, he founded the Centro Internazionale Guida Sicura and continued his collaboration with Alfa Romeo. In recognition of his achievements, he was named Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2022.

De Adamich will be remembered for both his racing success and his long-standing contribution to motorsport broadcasting.
