Birkirkara FC have confirmed the signing of Brazilian defender Ronivan Bispo Dos Santos, adding further reinforcement to their defensive line as the club continues to reshape its squad during the January transfer window.
All the necessary paperwork has been completed and registered in time, meaning the towering centre back is eligible for selection in today’s match, providing head coach Gianluca Festa with an immediate additional option at the back.
Known simply as Roni, the defender has progressed through the Brazilian football system and brings with him experience from several clubs in his homeland. He has previously featured for Grêmio Anápolis, Cametá and Jacobina, before most recently turning out for Camboriú FC.
Standing out for his physical presence and aerial ability, Roni is expected to add strength and depth to a Birkirkara defence that has undergone significant changes in recent weeks. His arrival forms part of a broader squad rebuild as the Stripes look to stabilise performances and improve results during the second half of the YoHealth Malta Premier League season.
Birkirkara have been active in the market as they look to provide Festa with the tools required to implement his tactical approach, with defensive solidity identified as a key area for improvement following a challenging opening round.
