The MFA awards night to be held on Saturday 25th May

The MFA Awards are back to represent the final act of a truly captivating season just over and rounded off with the nail-biting semis and final of the IZIBET FA Trophy.

Fellow players, coaches, administrators, members from the Technical Centre set-up, and members of the media all contributed to the final votes that ultimately will determine the best players who will be recognised for their achievements, efforts and contribution to their team’s objective in the season just over.


The MFA Awards will take place on Saturday 25th May, all starting off at 8pm with a live broadcast of event on TVMsport+ from the Double Tree by Hilton in Qawra.


A total of 19 awards will be presented with all domestic levels included from the Youths to the National Amateur League, Challenge League and the Elite competition which is the BOV Premier League.


A completely new concept this year will be ‘The Football Social Responsibility Award’, aligned to a great initiative and that has impacted in the best possible way on social justice.


MFA Awards Chairman of Organizing Committee this year is Vice-President Mr. Adrian Casha who also noted that Gozitan football players who get out of their comfort zone to take the plunge in the Maltese leagues in their objective to raise their level of competition, will also be rewarded in the “The Gozitan Achievement Award”.

Mr. Casha added that the usual prestigious award which is the “Footballer of the Year” is the highlight of the event, with equal to last edition in 2023, this highly regarded award will also be presented in the Women’s category.

Other categories include Coach of the Year, Young Player of the year, Foreign Player of the Year, and best player from the lower divisions too.

“The President’s Award” is also deemed as quite valuable and will be handed during the night by Malta FA President Bjorn Vassallo.

The best 10 goals of the season are also a feature that has year after year generated interest, like the winner of the Hall of Fame award selected by the Association to somebody in the football scene of the past who has pulled off an extraordinary success during his career.

This year the MFA Awards has also a female touch with the Women’s National Team acknowledged during the night for their outstanding feat of clinching the summit in a UEFA Nations League D competition, enabling them to attain promotion to an elevated level of League B.


Media Personality Sarah Bajada will host the show as compere with entertainment included in event with the participation on stage of female local band, MARA.


The Malta Futsal Team will also be recognized during the night after their recent Futsal first ever top of the group finish in a UEFA European Championship Preliminary Round in Switzerland.


Mr. Adrian Casha took the opportunity to applaud all club members for their passionate commitment and participation in the various competitions over the season just over.


He also underlined their efforts in terms of pushing their young talents who form part of their academies, helping them out and contributing to nurturing these young kids in their development and strive to become future stars and compete one day at the highest level.

One final appreciation by Mr. Casha to all media members in their contribution over a long season and their coverage through their different but hugely followed platforms, all doing their utmost to promote in the best possible way Maltese football and the efforts undertaken by all stakeholders to protect the image of the beautiful game on the island.
