In the aftermath of Juventus‘ heavy 3-0 defeat to Fiorentina, the club’s management convened a meeting with head coach Thiago Motta to address the team’s recent downturn in form. The discussion, involving Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli and CEO Maurizio Scanavino, reaffirmed their support for Motta but emphasised the urgent need for improvement to secure a top-four finish in Serie A.
The meeting focused on the team’s sudden defensive frailties, having conceded seven goals in their last two matches a stark contrast to their previously solid defensive record. Giuntoli and Scanavino underscored the importance of restoring defensive stability and enhancing team cohesion to navigate this challenging period.
Despite the recent setbacks, Giuntoli publicly expressed continued confidence in Motta’s leadership, stating that the club must remain united to overcome current difficulties. He acknowledged the team’s recent subpar performances but maintained that with collective effort, Juventus can realign with their objectives.
Looking ahead, Motta is reportedly considering tactical adjustments to rejuvenate the squad’s performance. This may include reinstating key players such as Kenan Yildiz and Francisco Conceição to the starting lineup, both of whom were instrumental earlier in the season. Additionally, the defensive pairing of Federico Gatti and Pierre Kalulu is expected to be restored, and there is speculation about Dusan Vlahovic returning to the starting eleven, especially given Randal Kolo Muani’s recent dip in form.
As Juventus approaches the final stretch of the season, the club’s leadership is keenly aware of the critical importance of securing Champions League qualification. The outcomes of the forthcoming fixtures will be pivotal in determining the team’s trajectory and assessing the effectiveness of the proposed strategic changes.
