Easy win for Roma against struggling Monza

Roma and Claudio Ranieri continued their impressive undefeated streak in Serie A with a comfortable 4-0 win against struggling Monza at Stadio Olimpico. Alexis Saelemaekers, Eldor Shomurodov, Angelino and Bryan Cristante scored the goals for Roma.

After their Europa League victory against Porto on Thursday, Paulo Dybala, Manu Kone, and Leandro Paredes were given a rest. Artem Dovbyk was also absent due to a recent adductor injury. Niccolo Pisilli, who recently signed a contract extension, had an opportunity to put Roma ahead in the early minutes but missed from 10 yards out. Saelemaekers opened the scoring for Roma in just 10 minutes by cutting in from the right wing and scoring with his left foot from the corner of the box. Matias Soule showcased his ball control skills by providing a cross for Shomurodov to score the second goal. Roma dominated the first half but Mile Svilar made an impressive save to deny Dany Mota. Roma’s Tommaso Baldanzi showed some fancy footwork in the box but was unable to get a powerful shot on target. In the 73rd minute, Angelino secured the win for Roma with a well-placed shot from a cross by Bryan Cristante. Second-half substitute Dybala’s corner was headed in by Cristante in the 88th minute to seal a late fourth goal for Roma.

With this win, Roma remains unbeaten in Serie A since mid-December and has now gone 10 games without a loss. They are now just one point behind Milan and Bologna in the league table.
