Samuel Chukwueze scores for Milan to beat Real Madrid in friendly

In an international friendly match, Samuel Chukwueze scored for AC Milan in the 55th minute, leading them to a 1-0 victory over Real Madrid at Soldier Field on Wednesday night. Chukwueze was unmarked as he received a pass from Mattia Liberali and scored with his left foot from 8 yards out, beating goalkeeper Thibault Courtois. The new Milan coach, Paulo Fonseca, expressed his satisfaction with the win, stating that although the result was not the most important, winning in general was crucial. He also added that their intention was to dominate possession and control the game.

Real Madrid only managed to take eight shots, six of which were in the second half. Their best chance to score was ruled offside, as Endryck Moreira’s shot in the 12th minute was stopped by goalkeeper Lorenzo Torriani before the flag went up. AC Milan, on the other hand, had 10 shots, one of which was taken by Christian Pulisic, the captain of the US national team. However, Courtois made a save on Pulisic’s 10-yard shot from the right side.

Real Madrid played without some notable players such as Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham, with coach Carlos Angelotti focusing on integrating newcomer Moreira into the lineup. “We ran with a younger squad, so we knew it wouldn’t be an easy match,” Angelotti said. “They had more possession and played at a faster pace.”

AC Milan, who had previously defeated Manchester City 3-2, also had a team of substitutes starting under Fonseca. The coach acknowledged that they still have a lot of work to do before the start of Serie A in three weeks, but he was pleased with what he saw in their game. Chukwueze, who had only scored one goal for Milan last season in 24 appearances, had another chance in the eighth minute, but Courtois made a great save. Real Madrid’s Cesar Palacoio suffered a left knee injury just four minutes into the second half after a hard tackle.
