They are football giants, bearers of a generation and forever written in football history books as the two best football players of all time. Messi and Ronaldo.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have long gone beyond the limits of the impossible and have dominated the football game for almost two decades, and for the same amount of time there has been the eternal debate, who is better than the two?
These two famous masters have nine Champions League titles, 12 Ballon d’Or, and 1583 goals between them. Almost every record in the book belongs to one of the two, but the Argentine stood out from Ronaldo yesterday due to one interesting statistic.
Namely, if we exclude penalties, the Argentinian scored 672 goals, while Ronaldo has one goal less. Also, Messi has 980 professional appearances in his career, while the Portuguese has 671.
If we include penalties, then Ronaldo is more impressive with 815 hits, while Messi hit the net a total of 773 times.
The arguments are various and there is no doubt that both footballers deserve the title of the best footballer of all time. Neither show any signs of slowing down and there are sure to be more records to fall before they hang up their boots.
