Valletta and Ħamrun Spartans to possibly face each other in QF of Meridianbet FA Trophy

The draws for the Round of 16 of the Meridianbet FA Trophy were held on Friday morning, mapping out the Road to the Final of one of Maltese football’s most prestigious competitions.

A total of 16 teams were drawn, comprising 10 clubs from the Malta Premier League and six from the BOV Challenge League.

The draw produced a number of intriguing ties, including a number of all-Malta Premier encounters, while BOV Challenge League clubs will look to cause upsets on the road to the final. With the bracket now confirmed, the teams are now aware of the path they must navigate in their quest to life the trophy.

The Round of 16 matches will be contested between 27th and 29th January 2026. The Quarter-Finals are scheduled for 3rd and 4th March 2026, followed by the Semi-Finals on 4th April 2026. The Meridianbet FA Trophy will reach its climax with the Final, which will be played on 24th May 2026.

The draw was overseen by Malta FA Match Operations Manager Stewart Said and former Hibernians FC and Malta National Team player Ernest Spiteri Gonzi. Spiteri Gonzi enjoyed a distinguished career in Maltese football, winning the league championship on three occasions and lifting the FA Trophy twice.
