Manchester United have rejected Newcastle’s offer to loan English midfielder Jesse Lingard, who did not get a chance this season.
Lingard, whose contract expires at the end of the season, has piqued the interest of several clubs, despite the fact that he did not get a chance with Manchester United’s new coach, Ralf Ragnick.
Manchester is reluctant to borrow the 29-year-old because that would practically end his career at Old Trafford.
Tottenham and West Ham’s offers were rejected because United did not want to strengthen their rivals from the top of the table.
Newcastle, which is struggling not to drop out of the league, does not pose a threat to the club from Old Trafford, but they still rejected the offer to borrow the player.
The Tyneside club has the option to try to sign a multi-year contract with Lingard, although it is believed that Lingard would rather wait until the summer before deciding on his next club.
