Chelsea coach Frank Lampard was disappointed after his team’s 2:1 defeat to Brighton in the 31st round of the English Premier League.
Brighton celebrated on the road at Stamford Bridge, and the former captain, now coach of Chelsea, believes that the defeat could have been more convincing.
“The result doesn’t show how difficult it is; they could have scored more goals.” Brighton is first of all a good team; they have been together for a very long time; they work hard; they have a coach with good ideas and great energy; they also have the mutual connection that every team needs so that everyone knows where everyone is at all times,” said Lampard.
According to Lampard, the London club still needs a lot of work in order to achieve such cohesion in the team.
“It will take time for us to reach that level, but today we were wrong in the basic things. And that’s not good. We have to sort it out quickly because that’s not the way Chelsea play,” continued Lampard.
The coach of Plavac made as many as five changes in the second half, but the guests managed to win without any problems.
“Some changes we made were forced; we had to pay attention to the minutes. We should have a team made up of players who are burning with the desire to prove themselves. This is my first match at home since I came back, and of course I didn’t want this outcome. But the result is what it is,” said the disappointed Chelsea manager.
Chelsea is currently in 11th position with 39 points, while Brighton is seventh with ten more points.
