Barcelona manager Hansi Flick expressed his pride in his players following their impressive 4-0 victory over Real Madrid on Saturday.
This win marked Real Madrid’s first defeat in 42 LaLiga games and Barcelona’s first triumph in the Clasico since March 2023.
Flick expressed his delight at the team’s success, particularly after their dominant performance against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, where they also secured a 4-1 victory. He emphasized his satisfaction with his role at Barcelona and living in the city, describing it as a fantastic job that brings him great happiness. Flick further praised the team’s exceptional performance in the game, stating that he was incredibly proud of their efforts.

Despite Real Madrid’s early dominance in the match, Robert Lewandowski’s quick-fire double in the second half paved the way for Barcelona’s resounding 4-0 win. Lamine Yamal and captain Raphinha sealed the victory with late goals, leaving the Bernabeu crowd stunned.

“We executed our pressing game both with and without possession more effectively. Our ball control was superior, leading to a shift in the dynamics of the game,” stated Flick. The emphasis on defensive efforts proved pivotal. We have dedicated considerable training to mastering a high defensive line and applying pressure on the opposition. It is crucial to deny any spaces when facing Real Madrid, as they boast an exceptional roster of players. I am confident that we are performing admirably. We remain steadfast in our approach, maintaining fluidity and a desire to progress further.”

Barca extended their lead at the summit of LaLiga, accumulating 30 points, placing them six points ahead of Real Madrid and nine points ahead of Villarreal in third position.
