Ismael took over Besiktas

Turkish football clubs Besiktas today appointed Frenchman Valérien Ismaël as the new coach after a series of poor results recorded by the club.

On the other hand, Ismael was removed from the position of West Bromwich Albion manager in mid-February.

He signed a one-year contract with the Turkish team, with the option to extend the cooperation for another season.

After 30 rounds played, the Besiktas team is eighth on the table of the Turkish league, with three points less than the fourth place that leads to the qualification for the Europa League.

The Frenchman, a former player for Lens, Strasbourg, Werder and Bayern Munich, has worked as a coach in Germany, Greece, Austria and England.

He will replace Onder Karaveli on the Besiktas bench.
