Romania was granted a 3-0 victory against Kosovo following a match abandonment.
Romania have been declared victors with a 3-0 scoreline against Kosovo after their Nations League encounter in Bucharest was halted due to the visiting team leaving the pitch, UEFA announced on Wednesday. The Group C2 fixture was stopped during injury time on Friday when Kosovo’s players exited the field, reacting to pro-Serbia chants from the Romanian supporters, a claim that Romania has denied. UEFA determined that Kosovo was accountable for the match not reaching its conclusion and decided they should forfeit. Consequently, the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) received a penalty of 128,000 euros (£115,000) for various infractions, including discriminatory behaviour and unsporting conduct by their team. Furthermore, the FRF was instructed to play their next home game behind closed doors due to xenophobic chants against Hungarians.
Meanwhile, the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK) faces a 6,000 euro fine for their team’s misconduct. Romania concluded the group stage at the top with 15 points, while Kosovo secured second place with 12 points.
