Neymar and Al-Hilal have mutually agreed to part ways, according to an announcement made by the Saudi Pro League champions on Monday. This comes after a disappointing period for the Brazilian striker, who is the all-time leading scorer for his country. Neymar, who sustained a knee injury during Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Uruguay in October 2023, has faced difficulties in returning to his top form.

“Al-Hilal Club Company and Neymar Jr. have reached a mutual agreement to terminate their contractual relationship,” stated the Saudi club on X.

Since joining from Paris St Germain for a reported fee of approximately 90 million euros ($98 million) in August 2023, Neymar has appeared in only seven matches for Al-Hilal. Reports from Brazilian media suggest that the 32-year-old will make a return to his childhood club, Santos, after leaving in 2013 to join Barcelona. His move to PSG from Barcelona in August 2017 set a world record fee of 222 million euros.
