Liverpool were denied a vital three points as Richarlison’s late equaliser earned Tottenham a 1-1 draw at Anfield. It was a result that left the Reds in fifth place and frustrated in their bid to break into the top four.
Liverpool made the perfect start when Dominik Szoboszlai stepped up to curl a stunning free-kick into the top corner on 18 minutes, after Alexis Mac Allister had been brought down on the edge of the box. The Reds dominated for long periods and should have put the game to bed, but poor finishing kept Spurs in it.
That profligacy proved costly in the 90th minute. Richarlison received a pass from Randal Kolo Muani inside the box, took a touch, and fired home to send the away end wild and snatch a point for the visitors.
It was a harsh but deserved punishment for Liverpool, who squandered several good chances throughout the match. The Reds remain fifth, two points behind Aston Villa. For Spurs, still winless in the Premier League in 2026 and just a point above the relegation places, it was a precious point that they will hope can serve as a turning point.
