Nottingham Forest’s manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, expressed his pride in his team’s performance despite the absence of key players due to injuries. They managed to secure their first victory at Anfield since 1969, defeating Liverpool 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday.
Callum Hudson-Odoi, coming off the bench, scored the match’s only goal, helping to maintain the squad’s unbeaten league run this year with two wins and two draws.
“Very happy. Many of our fans today in the stadium, they were not even born (in 1969). So that says how hard it is to play here,” Espirito Santo told reporters.

“I am proud of how we played as a team… it’s about seizing your opportunities at the right moment, and we did just that.”
Forest were missing their two starting midfielders; Danilo had broken his ankle last month against Bournemouth, and Ibrahim Sangare was sidelined with a hamstring injury. Centre-back Willy Boly was also out due to a calf injury.
“Unfortunately, Ibrahim Sangare is going to be out for some time,” Espirito Santo said. “I wish we could have everyone available. Sadly, we are missing three players… we must be prepared for all eventualities.”

Forest utilised central midfielders Nicolas Dominguez and Elliott Anderson as wingers to monitor Liverpool’s full-backs, he mentioned. “It’s about cultivating and having faith in this concept of growth,” he continued. Forest, who secured 17th place last season, are set to visit Brighton next Sunday.
