Newcastle United are reportedly looking to sell winger Miguel Almiron for around €20-€25 million (£16.7-£20.9 million) this January. Almiron has seen less game time this season compared to previous campaigns, and with his contract expiring next summer, it seems both the player and the club may be ready to part ways.
Almiron, who was a key player during Eddie Howe’s early years at Newcastle, has struggled for form recently, scoring just three goals last season and having limited appearances this term. Newcastle’s ongoing search for a right-winger, the position Almiron occupies, suggests his time at the club may be coming to an end.
Almiron has been offered to Premier League clubs including Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to reports. However, it’s not only English clubs showing interest. Greek side Olympiacos, MLS team Charlotte FC, and Brazilian clubs Santos, Botafogo, São Paulo, and Palmeiras are also keen on the 30-year-old’s services.
Newcastle have already sold promising midfielder Elliot Anderson to meet financial fair play obligations and could look to make further moves in January to strengthen their squad. Almiron’s potential departure seems to be in line with the club’s goals to move forward with their more ambitious plans, aiming for European football and competing for major trophies.
