Man United’s Patrick Dorgu out for 10 weeks, set to miss Denmark World Cup Playoffs

Manchester United defender Patrick Dorgu is reportedly facing a 10-week spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in Sunday’s dramatic 3-2 win over Arsenal, a setback that could rule him out of Denmark’s World Cup playoffs in March.

The Danish international endured a dramatic afternoon at the Emirates Stadium, scoring a spectacular long-range goal to give United a 2-1 lead before being forced off injured just over half an hour later.

Dorgu appeared to strain his hamstring after chasing down a loose ball and was subsequently replaced by Benjamin Šeško. Speaking after the match, United interim manager Michael Carrick initially downplayed the severity of the issue.

“He came off with hopefully a little bit of cramp, but hopefully it’s nothing worse,” Carrick said. “We’ll just have to wait and see, but we’re hoping it’s not too bad.”

However, reports now suggest the 20-year-old will be sidelined for around ten weeks, ruling him out of United’s next eight fixtures. He is not expected to return until after the March international break, with a potential comeback targeted for the Premier League clash against Leeds United on 11 April.

The injury could also prove a significant blow for Denmark, who are scheduled to face North Macedonia in their World Cup playoff semi-final at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on 26 March. If they progress, Denmark will meet either the Czech Republic or Ireland in the playoff final.

Manchester United have yet to officially confirm the extent of Dorgu’s injury. The young defender has enjoyed an impressive campaign, registering three goals and three assists in 22 Premier League appearances.
