West Ham United comfortably beat Leicester City 2-0, securing their first win over the Foxes since August 2021 and putting more pressure on manager Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has now seen his side lose 11 of their last 12 Premier League matches.
Leicester arrived at the London Stadium with the second-worst defensive record in the league, and their weaknesses were exposed in the 21st minute. Tomáš Souček scored the opening goal despite a good save from Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen. He had stopped a shot from Mohammed Kudus, who had been played onside by Jannik Vestergaard, but no Leicester defender reacted quickly enough to stop Souček from tapping in the rebound.
West Ham kept their slim lead with little trouble against a lackluster Leicester side, even extending their advantage with a Vestergaard own goal just before halftime. A corner from Jarrod Bowen hit the near post and went in after a deflection off Vestergaard, leaving Van Nistelrooy with a difficult team talk at the break. Surprisingly, he didn’t make any changes at halftime, only bringing on Harry Winks and Stephy Mavididi in the 61st minute, hoping they could spark a comeback.

Leicester showed more intent after these changes, with Vestergaard heading a corner towards goal in a rare moment of danger for West Ham. However, goalkeeper Alphonse Areola easily caught the ball, and the West Ham defence held firm, with Areola celebrating back-to-back clean sheets. West Ham saw out the game to secure consecutive league wins for the first time since March, moving up to 15th place, while Leicester remain five points from safety.
