Javier Pastore, the agent of Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez has slammed the club’s decision to ban the player for two matches following his recent comments about his future.
Fernandez will miss Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Port Vale and the Premier League trip to Manchester City the following Sunday.
Last week, the Argentina international said he would “look at his options after the World Cup” and mentioned a desire to live in Spain. Chelsea responded by handing him a two-game suspension.
His agent, Javier Pastore, told The Athletic: “The punishment is completely unfair. There’s no real reason or justification for it. Enzo didn’t understand why he’s been banned.”
The 25-year-old is contracted to Chelsea until 2032 and has been filling in as club captain while Reece James is injured. He has been linked with a move to Real Madrid, though he has denied holding any talks with the Spanish club.

“When the manager told him about the ban, he accepted it because he’s a true professional who always gives his all and respects decisions,” Pastore added. “But we don’t understand it, because he never mentioned another club or said he wanted to leave Chelsea.”
