Manchester United delivered a dominant 4-0 victory over Everton at Old Trafford, extending their unbeaten run to seven games with five wins, including three under new manager Ruben Amorim. After his first European win on Thursday, Amorim sought his first Premier League victory as United’s boss.
The hosts started strong, controlling possession and threatening down both wings with their new wing-back system. Everton gradually grew into the game, and Beto had a chance to score but skewed his shot wide after a defensive mistake by Diogo Dalot.
Just as Everton began to build momentum, United took the lead in the 34th minute. A clever corner routine saw Bruno Fernandes set up Marcus Rashford, whose volley deflected off Jarrad Branthwaite for an own goal. United doubled their advantage before halftime, with Amad Diallo winning the ball high up the pitch, allowing Fernandes to square for Joshua Zirkzee to score.
Everton’s hopes of a second-half recovery were dashed just 21 seconds after the restart. Amad broke down the right and set up Rashford for his second goal. Everton were shell-shocked, and United added a fourth shortly after the hour, with Amad again assisting Zirkzee for his second goal of the match.
Amorim made changes to conserve energy for United’s upcoming clash with Arsenal, and the hosts comfortably saw out the game. The win marked United’s fourth consecutive victory at Old Trafford and their first Premier League win by a four-goal margin since August 2021. Everton, with just two points separating them from the relegation zone, suffered their sixth defeat in 13 games.
