England allows alcohol in the stands after 36 years

The organizers of the football competition in England are planning to introduce alcohol to matches for the first time since 1985.

Due to numerous incidents in 1985, alcohol consumption was stopped at football matches in England. There are stands with alcoholic beverages, but it is not allowed to consume alcohol during the match.

For a start, it will be a test period and alcohol will be allowed only at the stadiums of clubs from League Two and the National League. If it proves to be good, the decision to lift the ban on alcohol consumption in stadiums will be extended to all levels of professional football in this country, including the Premier League.

The reason is that it would help certain clubs financially, reports the Daily Mail.
