The captain of the Serbian national team, Dusan Tadic, after the convincing victory over Sweden, pointed out that it was still quite difficult for them to reach the triumph, and he also referred to the criticism he has been receiving lately because of the games in the Ajax jersey.
“We won quite convincingly against a great national team, but after the conceded goal it was not easy for us at all. We were killed on the field, but we quickly consolidated and managed to achieve a turnaround already at halftime,’ said Tadic.
The Serbian national team, due to the penalty, had permission to let only fans under the age of 14 into the stadium, which they did because there were over 20,000 children at the Marakana.
“We simply had to make them happy. In the locker room, both the coach and the players talked about it, which was certainly more motivation for us to provide the best possible game and to send the kids home with a lot of impressions and to give them a night they will never forget. In the end, it was agreed to give them jerseys, which we did and made this night even better for them,’ the captain pointed out.
He reflected on the criticism he receives as a player and captain of Ajax. “As the oldest player, captain and a foreigner in the team, I simply have to catch the eye of those who criticize. I’m always there to stand in front of the team as a leader, and I was criticized in previous years too, even though I was the MVP every time, so I’m used to it,’ said Tadic.
In the current season of the Eredivisie, Dusan does not have a single goal in the 7th game, but recorded the 5th assist.
