Naxxar Lions still on top

Naxxar Lions maintained the first place of the Nestle Ice Cream Beach Soccer League table after achieving two more victories during this week.

The Lions beat Birżebbuġa Tigers 8-2 in a game which they dominated.

Yessous Camilleri netted a poker while Nicholas Schembri scored twice. John Paul Zammit and Lee Joe Schembri added more goals for their team.

Lydon Cuschieri and Noel Tabone replied for Birżebbuġa Tigers.

The same Naxxar Lions achieved a 3-1 victory against La Playa de Arena. Lydon Micallef, Marcelo Dias and Nicholas Schembri also scored for the Lions with Pak King Lee reducing the score for La Playa de Arena.

Hamrun and Birżebbuġa Tigers are second in the standings with six points. The Red/Blacks beat Ta’ Xbiex Sports Club 4-1. Emanuel Garba stood out for Hamrun as he scored a hat-trick with Faisal Alnakoou adding another for his team. Dunstan Zarb scored the only goal for Ta’ Xbiex.

On their part, Birżebbuġa Tigers made up for the loss they had against Naxxar after beating Ta’ Xbiex 7-3. Nigel Spiteri scored a double while Brandon Bray, Noel Tabone, John Paul Barbara, Kayne Haber and Lydon Cuschieri were among the scorers.

Saturday Nanapere, Antoine Barbara and Ryan Dalli reduced the score for Ta’ Xbiex.

Ta’ Xbiex registered their first win in this league when they beat Sliema 6-5. Zvezdan Vukovic, Saturday Nanapere and Koiba Desire scored a double each with Shalon Diacono, Andrea Coppola, Matthew Agius, Vincenzo Margiotta and Simone Palma responded for the Blues.

In a very balanced game, La Playa de Arena beat Sliema 5-4 after the penalty shoot-out. The score in regular time was 4-4 with Vincenzo Margiotta and Simone Palma scoring twice each. Indrek Palm, Andre Cutajar and a brace from Mantas Makutunevicius responded for La Playa de Arena.
