Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke after yesterday’s defeat against Barcelona in the 26th round of the Spanish Primera, where the Catalans celebrated after a 2:1 turnaround.
Xavi Hernandez’s side were celebrated by Franco Cassi’s goal in the 91st minute, but it could have been different if Marco Asensio’s 81st-minute strike to give Real their second lead had not been disallowed for a millimeter offside.
“We deserved to win; I am proud of my players. We lost because of a suspected offside. All in all, a bad January cost us a lot, as we didn’t react well after the World Cup in Qatar. We needed more time to find the right form”, said Ancelotti.
He pointed out that Real will not give up the fight for the Primera title.
“If we keep playing like this, I’m sure we’ll win something this season. For example, it is practically impossible to win now, but we will not give up. However, we still have the King’s Cup and the Champions League ahead of us,” concluded Ancelotti.
Barcelona is first in the table with 12 points ahead of Real, and there are still 12 matches left until the end of the championship.
