Malta has made waves in the international sportfishing scene with a historic second-place finish at the prestigious Colmic Float Fishing Masters, held in Algeciras, Andalucia. Competing against a field of 50 elite anglers from across Europe—including national and international champions from Spain and Portugal—Carmelo Quattrocchi of KSFA Malta delivered a phenomenal performance that earned Malta its first-ever podium finish in this highly respected overseas event.
The demanding 8-hour competition tested the endurance and precision of all participants. Quattrocchi rose to the occasion, finishing first in his section in the opening round and following it up with a strong second-place in the final leg. He narrowly missed out on the gold medal by just 500 grams, highlighting how fiercely competitive the event was.
Reflecting on his achievement, Quattrocchi shared:
“This result means a lot to me, but more importantly, it’s a proud moment for Malta. To be able to compete at this level and bring home a podium finish shows that our small island has big potential in sportfishing. I hope this inspires the next generation of Maltese anglers and raises the level of recognition of this sport.”
This incredible result not only celebrates Quattrocchi’s talent and commitment but also signals Malta’s rising prominence in the European sportfishing community.
KSFA Malta and the entire local angling community are rightly proud of this milestone—a moment that promises to inspire future generations and strengthen Malta’s reputation on the international stage.
Join us in applauding Carmelo Quattrocchi for his dedication, skill, and for making history for Maltese sportfishing!
