The national team held a training session in Rome this morning as preparations continue for the upcoming World Cup qualifier against Finland. Another session is scheduled for later this afternoon as the squad maintains its focus and rhythm ahead of the international fixture.

The team will depart for Helsinki tomorrow, where they will play their first qualifier of this window on Friday, 15th November at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. The match represents a crucial opportunity for Malta to potentially register their first win in the campaign and build momentum before the final game next week against Poland in Malta. In the meantime, whilst in Rome, the Maltese National team shall be received by His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in the Vatican.

The coaching staff have emphasised concentration, tactical structure and physical sharpness throughout the sessions, with players responding positively during the camp. Further updates will follow upon the team’s arrival in Finland on Wednesday.
The Malta national football team has been dealt a setback just ahead of its upcoming European qualifying fixtures against Finland (away) and Poland (home). Forward Kemar Reid, who plays his club football for Birkirkara F.C., suffered an injury in training and will not travel with the squad, which departs today.
Coach Emilio De Leo has confirmed that Reid will be replaced by Andrea Zammit of Valletta F.C., marking Zammit’s first call‑up to the senior national side.
Zammit, born 5 April 2003, currently plays as a centre‑forward at Valletta FC.
