Fluminense staged a strong second-half comeback to beat Ulsan Hyundai 4-2 in Group D in the FIFA Club World Cup. The Brazilian side trailed 2-1 at halftime but turned things around after the break to eliminate the South Koreans from the competition.
Fluminense initially took the lead in the 27th minute through a stunning free-kick from Arias, but Ulsan responded with two goals before halftime: a scrappy finish from Lee Jin-Hyun and a diving header by Eom Won-Sang.
Ulsan could have extended their lead early in the second half, but the same Eom missed a golden chance to make it 3-1. The miss proved costly, as Nonato equalised in the 66th minute with a low drive from the edge of the box.
After Cano missed a close-range header, the winning goal came in the 84th minute from Freytes, who converted a rebound inside the box. The result was sealed in stoppage time with a firm header from Keno.
Fluminense now top Group D with 4 points, the same as Borussia Dortmund, but with a superior goal difference (+2 to Dortmund’s +1). The final matchday will feature Mamelodi Sundowns vs Fluminense and Dortmund vs Ulsan, both crucial for qualification.
