Al-Ittihad, is making waves in the football world with reports emerging that they are eager to sign Liverpool’s prolific forward, Mohamed Salah, in the current summer transfer window. While he reaffirmed his commitment to Liverpool just over a year ago by signing a long-term contract, the lure of a lucrative offer from the Middle East has sparked interest.
The Egyptian international had an impressive season at Anfield, registering 29 goals and 15 assists despite Liverpool’s overall disappointing campaign. While the Reds are determined to retain Salah’s services, the Saudi Pro League’s growing financial strength has put the forward under the spotlight.
Al-Ittihad is wasting no time and has reportedly entered into negotiations with Salah to secure his signature before the transfer window closes. The club is said to be prepared to offer the 31-year-old a deal more financially rewarding than many players who have already moved to the region.
According to sources, the Egyptian forward could receive an astonishing €90m (£77.64m) per season under a two-year contract, a sum that could make him one of the highest-paid players in the league. Furthermore, Liverpool may be presented with a staggering £60m offer to part ways with Salah, a figure that will likely be met with resistance.
Liverpool has already witnessed some of their players depart for Saudi Arabia, including Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, who moved for a combined total of £52m. Roberto Firmino also made the switch on a free transfer. The potential departure of Salah would be a significant blow to the team, prompting manager Jurgen Klopp to consider reinforcements in both midfield and forward positions.
Despite the mounting interest from Al-Ittihad, Salah has not indicated any desire to leave Liverpool, and he rejected offers from European clubs last year to extend his contract with the Reds.
