Farewell Dembele: Barcelona Manager Confirms French Star's Imminent Move to PSG

Barcelona’s head coach, Xavi, has revealed that Ousmane Dembele is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain! The 26-year-old forward’s future at Camp Nou has been the talk of the town, and PSG has been relentless in their pursuit to secure him.

Speculation has reached a fever pitch in recent weeks, with PSG aiming to activate a release clause in Dembele’s contract. Although they missed the deadline for the La Liga exit clause, the French giants pulled a clever move by triggering a private clause in the contract. This unlocked the door for Dembele’s move, making him available at a mere €50 million – half of what PSG would have paid without this strategic play.

With both PSG and Dembele keen on the deal, the player sought permission from Barcelona to engage in talks with the Ligue 1 outfit. Xavi confirmed the news, stating, “Dembele came and told me he wanted to leave. He has an offer from PSG that we cannot match… The PSG bid is huge and out of the market.”

This bittersweet moment marks the end of Dembele’s time at Barcelona, where injuries took a toll on his promising career. Despite his talent, he made just one season with 30 or more La Liga appearances out of six at Camp Nou. Nevertheless, he showcased flashes of brilliance, especially in the 2018-19 season when he netted 14 goals in 42 games across all competitions.

Now, the French forward is set to embark on a new journey at the Parc des Princes, having already agreed to personal terms with PSG. If everything goes as planned, he’ll sign a lucrative five-year contract, adding his name to the list of the club’s summer signings.

Barcelona’s coffers will see a significant dent with Dembele’s departure, as they originally signed him for a whopping £135 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2017. Despite the injuries, Dembele’s time in Spain brought him three La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey, and two Supercopas de Espana.

As Dembele’s move to PSG nears completion, football enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating what this transfer might mean for Kylian Mbappe’s future.

Could this be the catalyst for a major transfer domino effect?

Only time will tell as the current transfer window unfolds, making it a summer of thrilling football twists and turns!
