Arkadiusz Milik did not make the cut for Poland’s Euro 2024 squad, as announced by manager Michal Probierz following their 3-1 victory over Ukraine on Friday. Unfortunately, the Juventus striker sustained an injury during the match and had to be assisted off the field. The manager later confirmed that Milik’s chances of participating in the Euro tournament were now dashed.
This situation mirrors what happened in the previous Euros, where Milik also suffered an injury during Olympique de Marseille’s final game of the 2021 season, resulting in his exclusion from Poland’s squad. On the bright side, Kacper Urbanski, who made his debut as Milik’s replacement against Ukraine, has secured a spot in the squad for the upcoming tournament in Germany.
Poland will have their last preparation match against Turkey on Monday. In the upcoming European Championship, they will face France, the Netherlands, and Austria in Group D.
