Promotion hopefuls Burnley extended their streak to 1,000 minutes without conceding a league goal, ending in a 0-0 draw at Preston North End on Saturday, keeping them in third place.

This marked Burnley’s 24th clean sheet in the Championship this season and their 11th consecutive one, setting a new record for the English second tier. Throughout 33 Championship matches, their tight defence has been breached only nine times, with no opposition player scoring against them since 21 December. Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford has faced just 21 shots on target during his run of 11 successive clean sheets, including saving two penalties against Sunderland. Scott Parker’s team needs just one more clean sheet to equal the Championship record set by Queen’s Park Rangers in the 2010-11 season.

“It’s something we take pride in. We’re proud of being tough to beat, and if you can’t win games, make sure you don’t lose them,” Burnley midfielder Josh Cullen shared on the club’s website. “We leave with a point thanks to our strong defensive record and remaining solid here at a challenging venue.”
